Pictures from Fort Wayne region's double regional road race at Mid-Ohio on 7/22/00
This was my first trip to Mid-Ohio. I'd watched CART and Runoff's races on TV but video doesn't do the track justice. I wasn't prepared for the severity of the hills and the dropoffs in the keyhole and carousel. What a great track!
Jerry Bartolomucci out qualified a lot of GT-1 cars in his GT-3 Nissan 240sx
Something you don't see everyday, Harry Belizaire and his GT-2 Lotus Esprit
Something I wish I saw everyday, Dennis Kszos's GT-1 Corvette
OK, so it's not the prettiest car in the world but it was very fast. David Stadulis's GT-4 Honda Civic.
Pretty and fast, William Hopwood's GT-1 Corvette was close to the track record.
Lot's of drifting going on in T2-T3 before the keyhole.
FC winner Scott Dick and his 98 Van Diemen showing how much of a dip there is going into the carousel
After finishing 2nd on Sat, Tom Johnson and his 92 Van Diemen FC had problems in qualifying on Sun. He started near the rear of the 26ish car field and almost made it to 2nd again.
T&S's worst nightmare. David Livingston Jr and his Swift DB-1 spent much of the weekend chasing Tom Raber's Lola T-340.
William Niaura and his Honda ITA CRX
Fred Albright and his very fast ITA Rx7
Kurt Przybysz and his yellow ITA CRX had a few more offs this weekend but nothing serious
Kevin Langston follows James Stevens in AS action
John Copley was fast in AS
Tony Duncan has the fastest ITA RX7 I've ever seen
Yet another yellow ITA CRX. This time it's Saturday winner Michael Mazziotti.
Colin Botha took first on Sun. He and Mazziotti swapped the lead both days and put on a great show.
"The British are coming, the British are coming!!" Brits Chris Roche and Graham Grove share their Japanese made Nissan in SSC.
Dave Damouth had some fuel spillage problems on Sunday
Terry Genre and his Dodge Omni GLH are obviously GB Packer fans. Notice how he carries the RR wheel.
Steve Paul didn't qualify first but won ITS each day in his Honda Prelude
Lot's of different lines to pick going into the carousel. That's Saturday's SRF winner Patrick Kosuth.
Ralph Green Jr. was 2nd on Sat. I'm dreaming of an SRF in my (distant) future.
David Vestrand won GT-5 in his Nissan 1200
Brian Frank won FP in his Ford Fiesta
Robert Soltis and his Alfa Romeo
Mark Lati and his very fast GP Triumph Spitfire
Click me for a 1.1 meg .mpg movie of Jeffrey Martin spinning his 95 Van Diemen in the carousel.
