2008 WAI EVENT RULES
Registration
- You
must be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license to
enter. All entrants and guests MUST sign the insurance waiver.
- If you
are not a WAI member, you will be assigned a car number for this event
only.
- You
will be assigned a worker position at registration. It is YOUR responsibility to sign up for
a worker position. Failure to do so
will result in a DNF for the day.
Technical
Inspection
- If
your car is not in the Tech line by 8:45 a.m., you may not compete without
permission of the Late Registration person.
- Have
your car empty of all loose items, have your tech card and helmet ready for
the inspector, and have your numbers on your car.
- Contrasting
magnetic material or Avery sheet is required for the display of car number
and class. You may not use shoe
polish numbers on your car. Two driver
cars must be able to cover the number of the 2nd driver when
not in use. WAI uses the SCCA two driver
numbering scheme; i.e. first driver uses # 48, second driver uses #148. Display of correct
numbers is YOUR responsibility and incorrect numbers can result in a DNF.
Posted Times
- Unofficial
times will be posted on the posting boards. DO NOT interrupt, talk to, or question
the timing crew. See an event
official for any timing related questions.
- Times
become official only after the audit has been done and printed results
have been posted.
- Event
results and points will be posted on the WAI website after the event.
Classes and
trophies
- Cars
are classed per the SCCA Solo rules, available here.
Two cars are required to form a trophy class. Classes with less than two cars will be
combined into either a Men’s Combined class or a Ladies Combined
class. The PAX index will be used
to determine adjusted times for trophies.
- Trophies
and awards will be presented at the end of the event. If you cannot attend the awards
presentation you must make arrangements for someone else to accept your
award or you may in most cases pick it up early. Otherwise your trophy may be
forfeited. You may choose between a
trophy or a chit worth $5 off your next event registration.
- The
calculation for class and PAX points is as follows - Points = 1st Place
car/Total Time * 100.00 The 1st position car = 100%, and the remaining cars in
a class are some percentage off of the 1st place car. Example: 1st place time
of 55.000 seconds = 100.000 points, 2nd car time of 56.000 sec. = 98.214
General
Instructions
- All
drivers must attend the Driver’s Meeting.
- Running
order will be announced at the Driver’s Meeting.
- Please
stage your car in grid after the Driver’s Meeting. A Grid List will be posted at that time
for grid position of each car. To
keep the event running, cars must be staged when called for. If you are not in grid at the start of runs you will receive a DNF for that
run. Stay near your car when it is
in grid (unless you are an event official or have received permission from
an event official).
- Obey the
starter light tree and only start on green.
- If a
RED FLAG is displayed on the course, STOP immediately. Wait for instructions from a corner
worker.
- If you
stop and point out a downed or misplaced pylon you will NOT be granted a
rerun unless you exit the course in a safe and slow manner. If the pylon was a pointer or was in the
correct box, you do not get a re-run.
The Corner Captain will make the determination.
- Damage
to the timing equipment will be the financial responsibility of the
entrant causing the damage.
- Everyone
who competes in the event MUST work the course or a specialty. If you do not work, you get NO POINTS,
NO TROPHY, AND NO POSTED TIMES.
Please remember that autocross is a volunteer sport and to have a
successful event everyone must participate
in the administration of the event as well as the competition.
- Speed
limit in the pits is 5 MPH.
Excessive speeds in the pits or on the event site grounds will not
be tolerated. Tire warm-ups are NOT
allowed anywhere on the entire site area.
Violations will result in disqualification and you will be told to
leave.
- There
will be a minimum of 3 runs.
Instructional runs will be allowed at the end of the event, time
and weather permitting. Passengers for
instructional educational runs must be 16 years old, have a valid driver’s
license and MUST sign the insurance waiver. If you are under 18 years of age, your
parent/guardian must be present and have signed the Minor Participation Waiver.
- Helmets,
seat belts, shirts and shoes that tie must be worn by all drivers (and
passengers). Loaner helmets are
available.
- Pets
MUST be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
You MUST clean up after your pet.
Pets are not allowed in the grid area or in any “HOT” areas.
- NO
bikes, skate boards, roller blades, roller skates, etc. are allowed in
grid, paddock area, posting area, or near the timing vehicle.
- Sportsman-like
conduct is expected from all participants
and guests.
- Drivers
are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
- Parents
are responsible for the conduct of their children. Children under 12 are not allowed in the
grid area unless competing in a kart
class.
- Please
respect the events site!! Sites are
difficult to find and hard to keep.
Please clean up after yourself and others. Dispose of trash in containers
provided. If no containers are
provided you are expected to take your trash with you, absolutely no trash
will be left behind. We would like
to leave the event site as clean (if not cleaner) than we found it.
